Abstract The objective of this paper is to analyze the strategy of divagation as the main creative methodology in two films by Ignacio Agüero, Como me da la gana II and Nunca subí el Provincia, in order to demonstrate why the creative evolution of this filmmaker has had an impact on contemporary Latin American cinema. The hypothesis is based on a comparative study of the selected films, which were released after 2010, with a special emphasis on their narratives, creative processes, and aesthetic resources. The study asserts that the main methodology of this author is divagation, or in other words, the coherence between the plots of a film through editing. The theoretical framework used comes from cultural and film studies that develop situated thinking, the personal dimension, and self-reflexive practice. These ideas enabled the identification of strategies and resources that reflect Ignacio Agüero's cinematic divagation. Methodologically, this analysis focuses on the technical-aesthetic mechanisms in relation to elements of production and the circulation of the works. In this sense, the films are understood as subjective testimonies that raise questions about cinema and the socio-political phenomena of a territory and its recent history.
