Abstract The 'Canto a lo Poeta' is one of the musical expressions that maintains a strong connection with the rural worldview and predominant religious beliefs in central Chile. In this research, the interrelationships between the musical content of this genre and the worldview of the rural-mestizo population in the central region of the country were explored, delving into the existing link between beliefs and magical connotations that are developed around the musical textuality of the 'Canto a lo Poeta'.
