Abstract This work discusses Lucia Puenzo’s XXY and The Fish Child, and Marialy Rivas’ Young and Wild as a correlate of gender outlaws on-screen that incorporates queer narratives in Argentinean and Chilean societies. Amy Kaminsky formulated the Spanish verb encuirar as a translation of the English term queer. Encuirar implies to discover the reality beyond the heteronormativity. Puenzo and Rivas fully execute the action of encuirar through these cinematic creations. Keywords Women filmmakers Gender outlaws Queer Heteronormativity Correlate
